Here's a German translation of the interview.
You have big footsteps to fill with epic love stories and a huge fanbase that has already formed around the books and the original series. Do you feel some kind of pressure or were you welcomed kindly into the "Outlander" family? You've just been to Comic-Con in San Diego. Can you describe a little bit that experience with meeting the fans and that excitement for the show?
Jamie: That was the first time we've met face to face all these people. And it was really, really special. In terms of pressure, I mean, of course, when you're coming into such a beloved legacy show like "Outlander" there is expectation to fulfill from fans and things like that. But honestly, I think everyone's been so gracious in welcoming us that it's felt really nice. So, it's not like a pressure where I felt stressed or anything. I think I'm probably speaking on behalf of both of us, but it was enough pressure to spur us on to try and make something that was going to be fresh and new on its own, but also paying homage to what came before. And I think it worked out not too bad.
Harriet: It feels like a real privilege actually to be stepping into something that has a fan base like the "Outlander" fan base, because they have been so supportive since Day 1. And like Jamie said, we got to experience that face-to-face on the weekend at Comic-Con, which was so, so exciting. And I think we're really proud of the show and we're really excited for people to see it

Ellen would have made an excellent laird of Clan MacKenzie, I think we can all agree on that! But times didn't permit it. Why do you think her father raised her differently than her other two sisters, Jocasta and Janet and why do you think he made that promise to marry her off for clan matters?
Harriet: I think Ellen was very, very close to her father. He was her best friend, really, before he passed away. She's the firstborn. And I think he saw a lot of himself in her. I had a really great scene. I had a few flashback scenes with Peter Mullan, who plays my dad, and I adored working with him. He's such a fantastic actor and such a lovely guy. But we have this brilliant scene where he says to Ellen: "Your wit and tenacity are a blessing. There's more of me in you than both your brothers put together. If only..." I don't think I can say the things like that.
Jamie: (laughing) If only you had a certain appendage.
Harriet: (laughing) If only you had a something. And basically, what he's saying is that she would make an excellent laird, like you said. She has all the qualities needed to fulfill that role. The only reason she can't is because she's a woman. And I think, I have kind of struggled with this a little bit myself, because I think she's slightly hypocritical in that she doesn't want to marry for the sake of the clan. And yet she did play a part in setting her sisters up with their husbands. But I mean, the clan comes first, usually, apart from for Ellen apparently. She just really wants to marry for love. And that wasn't a common thing to happen back in those days. Marriage was necessity. And especially marriage of someone in her position as a lady would have been in order to forge or maintain an alliance with another powerful clan.

Even in the first two episodes, you can see so many parallels between Brian and and his future son Jamie (not only his looks but also his sense of duty, self-sacrifice etc...), but what do you think are the differences between the two?
Jamie: It's nice, normally people ask the question: "What similarities..." But I think it's really interesting to see the differences. I think both of them are emotional in their own way. The difference is, I would say, Jamie was more "recklessly emotional" whereas Brian is more "pragmatically emotional" if that makes sense. It's more controlled. There's definitely times when Brian can lose himself but there are far and few between whereas I feel like Jamie is more of a shoot first and ask questions later kind of guy whereas Brian would probably ask a few questions and then determine if the shooting was necessary.
Harriet: (laughing) That is very true!
Jamie: I would say that was probably the biggest difference between the two.
Some traits of Dougal and the MacKenzie genes in him...
Harriet: Yeah, I was gonna say: "You sound very much like Ellen!" I think, there's an impulsiveness to the MacKenzie's, but also like you said: Ellen can be very calculated at times as well, which is maybe due to the fact that she's a woman and she has to be smarter about things occasionally whereas Jamie didn't in certain ways.
