Interview with Hermione Corfield on her new series "Outlander: Blood of My Blood"
Since August 8, 2025, the new Starz series "Outlander: Blood of My Blood" gives a glimpse into the "Outlander" world before Jamie Fraser and Claire Beauchamp were born. Within 24 hours German fans had the chance to see the new spin-off series exclusively on MagentaTV+. Therefore, myFanbase had took the opportunity to talk with Hermione Corfield who plays the role of Julia Moriston. She tells us about her character and the similarities between her and her future daughter Claire and gives us a glimpse into her reaction to finding out that Julia can time travel.

Here's a German translation of the interview.
We don't know a lot about Claire's parents apart from that they died, when she was still very young. How was it like to breathe life into characters that we don't know much about, yet, neither from the book or from the original series?
I think, it gives you free reign. For Sam [Retford], Séamus [McLean Ross] and Conor [MacNeill], who are playing younger versions of the characters of Ned Gowan and Dougal and Colum, so they don't have to emulate, but there's a degree of really understanding those characters. And for Jeremy [Irvine] and I, because we do die in the books or supposedly die in the books, we had free reign to create whoever we wanted to create and I think that's really exciting. Of course, you have to pay owed to Claire and obviously she has to get some of her traits from somewhere. But you'd never want to do an impression of someone. And I think, as is in real life, people are a combination of their parents. So, we had a lot of fun creating the characters and making each of them a part of Claire in some capacity.

For me it was a wonderful surprise to see that Julia and Henry are also traveling back in time. I didn't expect that and I was really very pleased to see that and all the parallels we can see with her and Claire's life. When did you find out? Was it part of casting or did you just see it, when you were shooting that? And that can lead also to a lot of speculations about how the families of Claire and Jamie are maybe already interwoven before they met...
Yeah, so I thought that was a really special part of the scripts. I didn't know how much that Jamie and Claire's parents would be intertwined. I think, that's something I learned as I went along. But I guessed there would be a bit of time travel. In my audition scene, at my chemistry read with Jeremy, I had one scene with Jeremy and then I had one scene with Sara [Vickers], who plays Davina. So, I had an idea that I would be time traveling in some capacity.
And when you read the scripts, do you have speculations? Would you maybe meet baby Jamie or something like that in the future?
I don't know about that. I haven't been told that as far in advance, but that would be cool. But Matt Roberts, our showrunner, did say that when Jamie is born that's actually where our story ends, because that's "Outlander" then. He said, once baby Jamie is around... that sort of would bend into "Outlander" territory. Because I think that's later down the line of the story.
