"Standing Still" mit James

I have a far greater depth of respect for Quentin as an actor. I received a call from James Van Der Beek, asking me if I'd play an alcoholic, peyote taking, film director planning an epic metaphysical Western in his latest film. ("Standig Still" - Sandra) I would need to begin shooting the next day. For some reason I said yes, and that night proceeded to have a complete anxiety attack. I once swore I'd never act -- but the truth is, every director should do it once, if not just to get a greater appreciation for the craft. What I didn't count on is me turning into a total ham. It was impossible not to. I took sunglasses from Marco Brambilla, sweater shirts from Marc Forester, and the color orange from Marcus Nispel -- suddenly Franklin Brauner, the most self absorbed director on the planet, was born. One thing is for sure: I'm not an actor, and it's unlikely I'll ever do it again -- I'll leave that in Quentin's capable hands. But this experience, which isn't over (I still have a pool party to shoot tonight, as well as some scenes in Vegas), has given me a much deeper sympathy for what actors do -- and make look so easy. I'll tell you straight up, it's not. It's a highly specialized talent. Here's some pictures Franklin took during yesterdays shoot:
