Interview with Charly Cole

May 29, 2016 | Her official site (charlycole.com) – and elements of her music - seems just as typical romantic like Taylor Swift’s – and she’s coming from country music as well! Just like Swift, Charly Cole wants to conquer Madison Square Garden – we talked about her idols, from the little mermaid to Shania Twain and Beyoncé.

1. How would you describe your music to a deaf person?
It's catchy and upbeat and never fails to make you happy. At least that accounts for most of the songs on the album.

2. Was there something like a light bulb moment, maybe a concert, a certain song or a record that made you dream about a career as a musician?
Yes. It was when I watched "The little Mermaid". I wanted to be just like her. From then on I would always listen to new songs and learn them and then perform them in front of my parents.

3. Are there any artists that might have influenced you or inspired you some time?
Yes. There are some German singers like Annett Louisan and Yvonne Catterfeld, but also artists like Bob Dylan and Shania Twain.

4. How do you come up with your songs? What part comes first, music or lyrics?
It really depends on the song. Sometimes the melody comes first, sometimes it's the lyric and sometimes the lyric idea comes first and then I'll start from there.

5. What song is most important to you? Why and how did it develop?
It's usually the last song I wrote, so the most recent one.

6. In what aspects did your music change compared to when you started to make music?
I feel like the lyric content has changed a lot because as I get older I write about more mature topics.

7. What has been the best experience so far as a musician?
Hearing from other people that the song has helped them, or made them cry or made them feel a certain type of way because that in my opinion is what music is all about - emotions.

8. Can you tell us a little bit about your current projects?
I'm in the studio recording new music. I can't say too much yet but I'm definitely evolving as an artist. Stay tuned and follow me on social media and you'll find out soon!

9. And what are you aspiring to in the future, what would you like to achieve?
I would love for millions of people to listen to my music and to reach a big audience with my music. So one of my biggest goals would be to be the headlining act at Staples Center or Madison Square Garden.

10. Who would you like to go on tour with?
Oh wow, that's a good question. I would love to go on tour with Ed Sheeran actually.

11. What record would we find playing on your iPod right now?
I love the new Beyoncé album "Lemonade". Listening to that a lot right now.

12. What do you think a as artist about platforms like Facebook, Twitter and YouTube?
I think social media is great because it gives me an opportunity to talk directly to the people that enjoy listening to my music and also to share personal things and my everyday life.

13. Since myFanbase is an online magazine about TV series, we would like to know what your favorite shows are?
My favorite TV show right now is called "The Ranch". I can't stop watching it. It's so funny.
