Daryl Mitchell hat bereits eine Hip-Hop-Karriere in den 80ern hinter sich und arbeitet seit den 90ern als Schauspieler. Der am 16. Juli 1969 geborene Afro-Amerikaner erlitt 2001 nach einem Motorradunfall eine Querschnittslähmung, was ihn jedoch nicht daran hinderte, im Jahr darauf eine Serienhauptrolle in "Ed - Der Bowling-Anwalt" zu ergattern. Er ist seit 1998 verheiratet und hat vier Kinder.

Von 2018 bis 2022 spielte Mitchell eine Nebenrolle in der AMC-Serie "Fear the Walking Dead". 2025 folgte dann eine Hauptrolle in der ABC-Comedyserie "Shifting Gears".
