Interview mit Robert Patrick

Gute Nachrichten für alle Robert Patrick Fans: Auf seiner offiziellen Homepage soll ab sofort jeden Monat ein neues Interview mit dem "Terminator"-Star veröffentlicht werden. Hier schon mal das englische original Transkipt des ersten, eine deutsche Übersetzung wird folgen: Robert Patrick August 2002 interview Conducted by Amelia (his humble Assistant) Amelia: So RP, I know I’m not the only one who's curious about your newest project. What can you tell us about the F/X pilot “Snitch”? RP: It’s Jason Cahill’s project (one of the original “Sopranos” writers). And I’m looking forward to working with him and Alan Taylor ("Six Feet Under"), the director on it. I am also really excited about going back to TV. This role is complex and will be a real challenge. TV means, I’ll have lots of time to figure him out. It’s honestly a role I don’t think I could get bored with, even 5 years out. So let’s keep our fingers crossed that it gets picked up! Amelia: Tell us more about your character. RP: My character is a “fixer”, a guy who takes care of things for people in the under belly of LA. He’s comfortable both in high society and lower class society, and moves around in both worlds. He’s set up by the FBI to help them with stings. It’s either, help them catch criminals or go back to prison. But, he still does it all on his own terms, which is the coolest thing about the character. Amelia: What about Charlie’s Angels II? How’s that going? RP: Great! I am really enjoying myself. There’s not a thing you can complain about when you get to show up and work with Drew Barrymore, Cameron Diaz and Lucy Liu. And McG, he’s a great director and a car and Harley guy, too. So, we have fun talking about hot rods and motorcycles. Amelia: Some of your fans started an on-line chat of questions they’d like to ask you or John Doggett. I picked a couple for you to answer. Can you go with us back to the X-Files and answer for your character? “Doggett66”: Why the hell do all FBI Agents decide to split up i.e. "you take the back of the house and I will take the front"? You just know you will never see that Agent again. Or the next time you see them they will be in hospital! Why not just say "I will take the front of the house, and see you in hospital later on."? RP: (laughing) Well, “Dogget66”, I guess FBI agents maintain more hope than you do. They must be more optimistic. “Coolbyrne”: Mr. Patrick, how did you get that scar on your nose? RP: That was in a film called Future Hunter. My third film, I think. And I was horrible in it! But hey, I was young. There’s a plank bridge stunt (now, this was back when I was stupid and did all my own stunts) where the bad guys start shooting at us. As I retreated over the bridge, one of the old plank boards is supposed to break and my character falls through the bridge. So, I fell, like I was supposed to and I sliced my nose open. That was the only take, so you can see it if you watch the film. That really is ME dangling from the bridge and falling in the water. I remember asking the director (Ciro H. Santiago) how bad ithe cut was. He said, “It will make a perfect scar. And it gives you character. No need to worry. O.K. people, let’s move on.” “Coolbyrne”: As for Doggett... Nice manly truck, but is it really necessary in Falls Church?? RP: That’s just Doggett’s truck. It’s his only vehicle, that’s why he drives it. Besides, I personally think every household needs a pick-up truck. Regardless of whether a man or woman drives it. “Coolbyrne”: How did you (Doggett) grab that Pop Tart out of the toaster at the beginning of "Nothing Important Happened Today" without flinching? RP: Doggett evidently doesn’t have heat sensitive hands (dripping with sarcasm). He also grabbed a teakettle once, with out any kind of mitt. I mentioned both of those to Kim (Manners, the Director) and he said, “Doggett is too manly to be burned by a tea kettle.” Good catch, “Coolbyrne”, I noticed that too. “Dog’s-ear”: I'd ask Doggett why the heck he doesn't quit his job at the FBI, because after being shot, beaten, eaten and tortured so often who'd keep such a job? RP: Well that just shows you a bit about the character of John Doggett. It’s the job he’s taken and the path he’s chosen. And he’s no quitter. Look forward to a new interview each month. All my best, -Amelia Quelle: RP official HP
