Interview with Dzidzio

March 10, 2013 | Dzidzio is preparing for a huge gig in a new stadium in Lviv which will take place on May 18th. Despite the preparations, The band's lead singer Dzidzio himself took the time to answer our Soundcheck questions and now we know why he loves to play "humorous, anti-glamorous pop", as he calls it: He just has a delightful sense of humor!

1. How would you describe your music in one sentence?

Usually we sing about what we see around us, that's why our manner of singing is very easy to understand for regular people. In short, our band is performing in the genre of humorous, anti-glamorous pop.

2. Was there something like a light bulb moment when you were young, maybe a concert, a certain song or a record that made you dream about a career as a musician?

When I was in child care, kids were taking a nap. My impression was when our nanny was singing a lullaby to me, her big boobs were in front of my eyes, and her voice made all dogs around howl. That's when I decided to be a musician.

3. Are there any artists that might have influenced you or inspired you some time?

Besides my nanny from child care, my grandman had a huge influence on me. Her singing wasn't perfect, but she was singing so long and her Ukrainian lyrics inspired me a lot.

4. How do you develop your songs? What part comes first, music or lyrics?

It is easier to compare with drinking – first we are taking a shot and then a bite. So music comes first – it's like a shot – and then lyrics are like a bite. But seriously, it really depends.

5. What song is most important to you? Why and how did it develop?

Each song is important for us and brings up some memories about real events. But we honestly believe that our most important song is still ahead.

6. In what aspects did your music change compared to when you started to make music?

The progress is amazing, that's like turning shit into candy. Just kidding...

7. What has been the best experience so far, together as a band?

We will never forget that! That's when we tried to split money after our first concert.

8. What can you tell us about your current projects?

Besides working on new songs and videos, we are completely engaged right now in preparing a huge solo gig in the brand new Arena Lviv Stadium on May 18th. So, please welcome everybody, it is not too far from Germany.

9. And what are you aspiring to in the future, what do you want to achieve?

We definitely want to come again to Oktoberfest in Munich! And personally, I have to find that girl Gertrude which still sticks in my head and gives me sweet nightmares.

10. With whom would you like to go on tour?

That's the biggest dream for all of us – with nice naked girls. Our Cadillac is so roomy.

11. What record would we find in your CD-player right now?

Usually in the morning that would be Robertino Loreti with Santa Lucia, but at night I prefer to stay with Dita Von Teese.

12. What do you think, as artists, about platforms like Facebook, Twitter and mySpace?

It is cool that we have such internet projects now that are kicking the ass of traditional TV. By the way, we are the champions in one of the biggest Eastern European social networks, Vkontakte, where we have a fan club of 135.000 members. Come visit us at [url=http://vk.com/dzidzio][/url].

13. myFanbase is a website that is devoted to American television shows. Do you have a favorite show?

From our childhood we still remember Santa Barbara, but honestly, the best reality show you can watch is outside where you can observe regular people's life, birds and animals, listen to the neighbors' arguing or running by cars with open windows and Dzidzio singing loud from it!
