Exclusive interview with Richard Harmon

June 11, 2014 | Richard Harmon is best known for his roles as Jasper on "The Killing" and as Julian the scifi show "Continuum". Richard, who was so nice to take time for a second interview with us, talks about his character Julian Randol in the third season, the cast of "The 100" and his part as John Murphy on the new postapocalyptic show.

German translation of the interview.

1. On "The 100" your character Murphy started out as quite a jerk but when Charlotte killed Wells he didn't deserve the lynch mob and he certainly didn't deserve to be banned. After he came back though he straight up killed a guy. Is there still room for redemption, what do you think?

I guess he can be a bit abrasive sometimes, I'll admit it. I don't really feel like he needs to be redeemed though, him or anyone on the show for that matter, every character has had to make hard decisions, nobody is innocent.

2. The show has quite a "Lord of the Flies" vibe. What do you think about how the kids managed so far, someone stepping up as a leader, trying to make rules, trying to survive?

I think they have done pretty well for themselves given the challenges they get put through every day. Not everyone has made it through alive but they take it one day at a time and just do the best they can.

3. Bob Morley said in an interview he's shipping Bellamy and Murphy. Please tell us there is still room for a good bromance there?

Murphamy is what it's all about! As of now I suppose they are on the outs but whether it be a bromance or them being enemies there is always great scene chemistry between Bellamy and Murphy, I think its because Bob and I work in a very similar way and have a lot of respect for one another.

4. Will we learn what happened to Murphy when he was with the grounders?

I don't even know fully. I hope we do get to find out though.

5. Looking at the protagonists on the show, which actor is most like his character and who is absolutely different?

Probably Christopher Larkin is most like his character (Monty), on screen and off he is just a stand up guy. Bob is pretty different from Bellamy, he's very kind and a lot more easy going but at the same time I don't know what he'd be like if he was in charge of 100 teenagers.

6. "Bates Motel" is from "Lost" show runner Carlton Cuse and FNL producer Kerry Ehrin. Sounds like a dream team! What was working on that show like?

It was a blast to work on! Very cool to be a part of something that has its place already cemented in film history with its ties to "Psycho".

7. On "Continuum", what can the audience expect from your character Julian Randol in the third season? After his conversation with Jasmine Garza in #3.08 it seems as if he considered accepting her help.

I think everyone can look forward to Julian stirring up the pot a little bit in weeks to come. He's always good for that.

8. Julian refuses to accept what seems to be predetermined in his future. What advice would you give to him so he does not become the Theseus, who in Kiera's original timeline is responsible for many deaths?

The thing is, I would like to learn more about Theseus before I rag on the guy, the corporate world obviously would have slandered him because he stood against him. He may not be as bad as we all seem to assume he is. As far as advice goes I'd tell him to keep following the path that he believes in, not the one everybody else wants him to take.

9. How do you experience communication between actors and fans through social media? And what was it like to find out Captain Kirk aka William Shatner was live tweeting "The 100"?

Its great! Always nice to get feedback from the people that we make the show for. I do feel bad sometimes because I'm not always the best at responding. I remember finding out he was going to live tweet it and thinking, "Well this has to be good for ratings.".

10. Last but not least: Last time we spoke your favorite tv shows were "Friday Night Lights", "Arrested Development", "Sherlock" and "Sons of Anarchy". Any new additions or discoveries?

I have jumped on the magical train that is "Game of Thrones" recently. Also I think "Always Sunny in Philadelphia" might be the funniest show since "Seinfeld".

Thank you for taking the time for our questions once again, Richard, we wish you all the best with your projects!
